I am Rahma Dar, a 13-year-old Grade 7 student. I really enjoy art because it allows me to be creative and express myself. Writing poetry is also something I love, and sometimes I even illustrate my poems to bring them to life. Art is one of my favorite subjects, and I always have fun experimenting with different ideas. Artist Statement:
My artwork, “Gleaming Horizons,” is inspired by the poem “Reflections on the Water” by Henry Wadsworth. I love writing poetry, and painting helps me express the feelings I portrayed in my poetry. The glowing buildings stand tall against the evening sky, their reflections shimmering and gleaming like poetry upon the surface. This piece explores the connection between architecture and reflection, where the golden lights merge with deep blues, creating a dreamlike scene. I first sketched a light pencil outline to shape the composition. Then, I used watercolor to paint the glowing sky and soft reflections in the water. I carefully added details to the buildings, blending different tones to enhance the lights. Finally, I splattered paint to create a flowing, dreamy effect, bringing the scene to life.
