Artist Name: Nawal Ansar

About Artist:

I’m Nawal Ansar, and art has always been my way of connecting with history. I’ve been especially fascinated by Mughal architecture — its intricate details, grand designs, and the stories it holds. Watercolors are my favored medium because they allow me to create soft, layered textures that bring these historical places to life. For this piece, I painted Hiran Minar, a monument built by Emperor Jahangir for his beloved antelope. I added glowing lanterns and stars to symbolize how history continues to shine through time. Through my art, I hope to make people pause, reflect, and see the past in a new light.

Artist Statement:

I’ve always been fascinated by Mughal architecture their grand structures and the stories they hold. For this piece, I chose to paint Hiran Minar, a monument Emperor Jahangir built for his beloved antelope. It’s a beautiful symbol of his love for animals, and I wanted to bring that sentiment to life. Using watercolors, I played with soft washes and rich details to capture the minaret’s elegance. I added glowing lanterns and stars to symbolize time, memory, and the way history continues to shine through the present. The contrast of light and shadow adds depth, making the structure feel alive almost as if it’s whispering its story. This piece is my way of honoring the past while adding my own touch of imagination.
