Artist Name: Haaniya Zahra
About Artist:
I am Maleeha Fatima from the Model Town Campus, Beaconhouse, and I’m currently in Grade 10. I love art more than anything, and I believe that my artistic journey will take me to great heights in the future. I have won every art competition I’ve participated in, and I’m hoping to excel in this one too. Along with art, I’m also the illustrator of my own book, which I wrote myself, and I’m truly grateful for the talent I’ve been blessed with!
Artist Statement:
When I first thought of the theme “Lights, Shadows, and Structures,” lanterns came to mind, and I imagined them on a New Year’s night. For the structures, I thought of buildings and painted them black to represent shadows. The sky was painted in many different shades of blue, with mostly purple and a bit of black to make it darker. The buildings were painted with black paint, but the main focus of the artwork was the lanterns. They were drawn on white paper using markers and crayons in red, yellow, and orange, and then pasted onto the dark sky. On one side, I painted the moon with white paint to add more light, though it was just a small part of the painting. I imagined that by adding lanterns, the painting would become more creative and lively.
