Anarkali Bazaar

Description :

My drawing is inspired by the famous Anarkali Bazaar. It was named after the legendary “Anarkali” who was buried alive in 1599 by the Mughal Emperor Akbar for falling in love with his son Jahangir. It is one of the oldest Bazaars in Lahore. It sells embroidered dresses, textiles, jewellery, shoes and what not. The colours, shimmer, shine and the crowd makes it the place to go shopping. It is also famous for its delicious food. Moreover, Sultan Qutb- ud- din Aykbak’s tomb is also situated here. It is a must- see place for visitors or tourists coming from all around the world. I used coloured pencils as the only medium in my artwork.
