Behind the Scenes

Fatima Vaqas

Description :

Behind the scenes is the unbalanced-balanced society. My 3d installation on the topic “bazaars of my city” showcases how the unbalanced and unjust society is apparently considered a symbol of normalism and how something different from that is actually considered abnormal. On the surface this seems like a quite pleasant, breathtaking and beautiful view when seen at first glance however once you take a closer look and peek inside the window you realize that within all that beauty lies the suffering. The interior is rotting from the evils of the society. From poverty, starvation, child labour and trafficking to all evil vices that reside in this city. While the two bazaars with their double sided and deceiving looks hang upon the balance it’s depicts how the pain is now somewhat considered lighter than the pleasure. It’s true when they say the bazaars of my city are quite diverse- diverse in what ways, that depends upon us.
