Busy Bazaar

Zainab Khan Furqani

Description :

I wanted to show the unique aspects of our traditional bazars while simultaneously produce an art piece which would be unique in its own self. Thus I chose a piece of antique wood as my canvas. I tried to paint our time-honored way of dyeing dupattas as well as the arts and craft through presenting the hanging lanterns of different colors and style, indicating the long history of our subcontinent. On the other hand it also shows the present time’s culture of Pakistan by the kid selling out balloons and a man trading interests of children. Moreover, through my painting the richness of our spices and the taste of our snacks is delivered. The beauty of the colors is shown by the typical utensils loaded on the bicycle depicting our daily lifestyle. Over all, the usual day of a Pakistani bazar is illustrated.
