Empress Market Karachi-Landmark of my city

Omar Saad

Description :

EMPRESS MARKET, KARACHI LANDMARK OF MY CITY By S.M.Omar Bin Saad Class IV BSS As soon as I got to know the theme, the picture of the magnificent bazaar “Empress Market” came to my mind. This famous market traces its origin from the British era which made it more fascinating to me as it reminds me of our past. After its renovation, the grandeur of the monument has been restored. The recycled material used as walls is empty boxes of tissues and shampoos. The choice of brown paper to cover the boxes was critical as it should look realistic. After that comes the tracing of the design. I painted the roof which I made with cardboard to give it a texture similar to the actual roof. The colour of choice for the roof is Carmine and for the windows is Turquoise. To give it a more realistic feel, I added stalls using fabric. For figurines and food items, I opted for Air dry clay. It was a huge project to take up and I thoroughly enjoyed working on it.
