Sidra (inaya athar)

Inaya Athar

Description :

In this piece, I wanted to express the beauty of our bazaars but extremely subtly. At first, I got 5 meters of white cotton from the open bazaars in gulghasht, then I hand sewed it all together to feel the amount of hard work put in by the old school methods of sewing and dressmaking. Afterward, I gave it to the local ‘darzan’ to run the project over with a sewing machine to secure it. Finally, to make it less empty I went to the bazaars again and found a few sequins to put on it. The design of the dress shows a more cottagecore and simple vibe, however, the main thing that I wanted to show through it was the sustainable shopping of materials and embellishments from the local open bazaars. the dress may look empty, but with that, I wanted to show that the beauty and words of a bazaar cannot be expressed through one single dress. The belt which is a simple string of the leftover cotton makes it look like the project is still continuing, and that shows how many seamstresses work on endless projects every day.
