Spirit of the City

Emaz Kareem

Description :

It is within these very walls and streets of the bazaar where every other individual’s daily life and journey intersects. The encounters, experiences and events as well as the emotions and memories contained in this bustling part of Karachi hold the entire city’s spirit- Bystanders will find the very essence of the city whether it be a myriad of colours or the cacophony of sounds of the local street vendors, street hawkers, shopkeepers etc. It is as if the bazaar houses thousands of untold tales yet to be narrated and passed on to further generations. I made this work by combining watercolours with a cross etching style pointer. Furthermore, I made use of markers for making even more definite colour contrasts and highlights to create vivid imagery. (Emaz Kareem 11-F)
