Artist Statement:
As the drafting paper roll unfurls across the surface beside the drafting table and stool, its dark shadow symbolizes the tireless dedication and precision required in the field of architecture. The modern buildings, standing in contrast to the traditional houses, poignantly capture the generational shift in architectural thought. The hanging lights, evoking the warmth of sunlight, illuminate the rooms of the houses, while the buildings remain dimly lit conveying the sense of loneliness that often accompanies urbanization. This poignant scene highlights the sacrifices made by those who pursue a career in architecture, often at the cost of precious family time and love, underscoring the difficult choices faced by those devoted to their profession. Moreover, the structures on the drafting paper rolling across the ceiling symbolize the designs that bring buildings to life. I used only acrylic paints to create this masterpiece on canvas.
