About Artist:
My name is Amal Junaid, and I’m twelve years old, studying in Grade 6 at Beaconhouse School System in Chakwal, Pakistan. I have a strong passion for art and dream of becoming an artist when I grow up. Currently, I’m focused on my studies to build a solid foundation for my future. Art has always been a big part of my life, and I’m constantly working on improving my skills. This opportunity excites me because it aligns with my goal of becoming an artist, and I am eager to grow and develop in this field.
Artist Statement:
This painting reflects solitude, nostalgia, and the passage of time. The lone figure walking towards the unknown represents life’s journey full of mystery and self-discovery. The contrasting warm and cool tones capture both hope and struggle, while the rustic architecture adds a sense of history and depth.
I was inspired by old, abandoned streets that hold untold stories. The use of mixed media, including wood for steps and foil for windows, enhances the three-dimensional feel, making the scene more immersive. Acrylic paints bring vibrancy to the sunset sky, symbolising endings and new beginnings.
The perspective draws the viewer into the artwork, inviting them to imagine what lies beyond the horizon. Through this piece, I wanted to express that every journey no matter how uncertain leads to growth. It is a reminder that moving forward, even alone, is a step toward something meaningful.
