About Artist:
Hi! My name is Humna from Beaconhouse Tipu Sultan Campus, and I’m an Arts student who is pursuing Sciences as well. I’m sixteen and in AS Level. I’ve been looking very forward to participate in this wonderful opportunity to present my installation according to the given theme, which resonated with me a great deal due to the experiences of my loved ones around me. Credits to my Art teacher as well for enlightening me about Young Canvas.
Artist Statement:
This installation is the quiet strength of sacrifice. A father upheld by the shards of his broken-down family is still standing, even his own being broken, showing how family members are interconnected and depend on each other even during the roughest of times. Every break in the glass is about pain, but through them shines golden flakings not only the afterglow of light, but healing. Love oozes through the breaks, healing the hurts, the pain being turned into strength, the suffering turned into endurance. Shadows fall upon the surface, bearing witness to the struggles, but the golden light promises us that even when things break, something is left. This piece is about endurance, about the family holding each other together, proving love is the greatest structure of all.
