Description :

Historical Background Empress Market is an incredible historical place for local and tourists as well. It is believed to be built on a location at which the people accused of 1857 were brutally killed and buried. It is serving as a place to earn for tens of thousands of people. Empress Market is the meeting point and transit hub to many workers. Vendors using pushcarts, thousands of people using stalls to sell their products and the hospitality is still untouched. With every type of item you can imagine: be it meat, dry fruit, spices, betel nut, or domestic animals. Legacy The place is a monument and was built to commemorate the great Queen of Britain. Aside from all the distinct stories, the location holds great significance. The architecture is a mix of Roman and Indian styles, making the design look unique! The designer who helped make this place was well aware how long this building will survive and how important it is for the city to have a monument like this. How I made it First, I collected the material required for the painting. Then, I started research as per theme. Undeniably, “The Empress Market” got finalized as I have heard a lot about its popularity, importance and historical back ground. Moreover, its name was a great symbol of woman empowerment. Therefore, I made up my mind to paint Empress Market. I gathered numerous pictures of the market from different angles and decided the position, distance and angle of the market which can reveal comprehensive design and view of its architect, ambience and character. Then I made a rough sketch of it, refined that and finally painted it using closest possible colours. I completed this painting in two days. I enjoyed painting on a canvas with acrylic paints and watercolours.
