Bazaar of Lahore

Ayesha Noaman Al-Luqman

Description :

My painting shows ‘Bazaar of Lahore’. The concept of my artwork is to show people all cultures are beautiful. And through my painting, I’m showing everybody how beautiful Pakistani culture is. When you go to a bazaar in Pakistan, the high-spirited vibe makes you even more energized. My painting looks a lot like Anarkali Bazaar, Lahore. Anarkali Bazaar is known for its traditional handicrafts and sophisticated embroidery. This bazaar highlights the cultural and historical values of Pakistan. Visitors and tourist coming from all over the world, come here to buy our traditional clothes, handicrafts and jewelry. As in jhumkay, baali, shalwar kameez, shawl, khussay, and handmade crafts. The vibrant colors in my painting not only represent colorful clothes that hang but also represent excitement and optimism. Bazaar is always full of life, colors of clothes show different cultures, traditions, emotions, passion, desire, and most of all happiness. Pottery is one of the oldest and famous handicrafts. Pottery is still in fashion; modern people use it as decoration pieces in their homes. Clay pots are still used in house-hold work. Jewelry helps in enhancing one’s beauty. It also symbolizes wealth, power and status. For some, jewelry is a form of art for themselves which they use to create expressionism. Then there are some people who use jewelry as a part of their culture and traditions. Many girls love pairing cultural clothes with traditional jewelry. Everyone enjoys going to a bazaar, to shop and explore new things. At first, painting a bazaar seemed very challenging to me. Then I thought about what my visits to bazaars were like and how I felt when I went there. That got me motivated to make a bazaar that shows how full of life a bazaar is. I started of my sketching my basic outline. Then I started painting in the basic colors of things. Afterwards I took a thin paintbrush to make delicate designs on the dupattas, necklaces, crockery and handicrafts. At last, I filled in any white spaces that were left. It took me 2 days to make the whole painting on my own.
