Reflections of the City

Artist Name: Ayesha Asif

About Artist:

In the school art room, you’ll find me immersed in my work every day, playing volleyball outside, or occasionally in the classroom. I am an A-Level student at BCP Abbottabad, studying Mathematics, Physics, and Art and Design, and I look forward to pursuing architecture in the future. The gratifying process of creating an art piece, topped with appreciation from my peers and teachers, makes my college art experience incredible. My passion for art has led me to seize this opportunity to show people the world through my lens, using my artwork.

Artist Statement:

My painting, “Reflections of the City,” explores how architecture, light, and reflections combine to create a unique view. I was inspired by my own experience navigating the local streets of my city, which captivated me with their intricacies. A convex mirror installed on a wall becomes a portal to a distorted yet fascinating world, transforming a familiar street into a curved, dreamlike landscape. I experimented with the expressive qualities of watercolor to capture the fleeting effects of light on the mirror. With this work, I hope to inspire people to look at everyday familiar scenes from a new perspective.

Mixed Media Art:

Mixed media is a term used to describe artworks composed from a combination of different media or materials. Students can combine a variety of media and artistic techniques to create the Art piece. The painting and drawing techniques may include layering, texturizing, slicing, weaving, collage and creating a peeled paint effect. The materials that can be used vary from cloth, wood, paper, paint, metal, stones, and more. In this type of art different media or materials are mixed into one piece.
