Artist Name: Hamna Baloch
About Artist:
I am a young, aspiring artist who aims to become an architect in the future. I have a keen interest in all things art whether it is paintings from the time of Van Gogh or contemporary art created by the talented minds of today. I like to embed my love for architecture into my passion for painting, creating beautiful pieces while constantly working to hone my skills and improve at what I am already good at.
Artist Statement:
I wanted to express my appreciation for history and architecture. I have always found Roman art fascinating, from the sculptures to the paintings, so I used this as an opportunity to help others acknowledge the beauty of the past. Every crumbled brick, every faded mark is a sign of aging and of the many stories that took place here. Even though none of us existed at that time, looking at the Colosseum for a minute too long can evoke intense feelings of nostalgia, and perhaps of yearning as well what would it have been like to sit in the audience here, wearing a Roman tunic and watch the gladiators try to rip each other’s throats out?
