Artist Name: Anaya Kamran
About Artist:
As a seventh-grade student, I am passionate about art and math, fueling both my creativity and analytical thinking. Art allows me to express emotions and narratives, while math sharpens my problem-solving skills. I draw inspiration from art exhibitions and my family, who share a deep artistic connection. My younger sister, equally creative, motivates me. As an omnivert, I balance introspection with sociability. Devoted to my pursuits, I aim to excel academically, become head girl, and live with purpose. Beyond art and math, I love nature, sports, music, aesthetic photography, history, and literature, always striving for growth and leadership.
Artist Statement:
My artwork manifests my creativity, inspired by a unique and unconventional take on a lighthouse. Given that the lighthouse is the mascot of Beaconhouse School System, I sought to reinvent its essence. The background features an iconic sunrise, crafted using the dry oil pastels gifted to me by my mother. I began by masking the lighthouse sketch with paper tape and meticulously layering and blending the colors. A sudden creative thought led me to shift perspectives traditionally, a lighthouse guides ships at sea, but I placed it in a desert, symbolizing isolation and resilience. The intricate zentangle patterns, drawn with my black pointer, represent architecture while also reflecting individuality. Just as a pupil in school waits for their talent to shine, this lighthouse defies norms, embodying uniqueness even in an unexpected setting. This piece bridges art, identity, and modern societal themes.
