Bazaars of My City

Umme Haani Siddiqui

Description :

I created a drawing of the iconic Empress Market that symbolizes Karachi just like The Quaid’s Mazaar. The Empress Market is one of the oldest Bazaar of my city which was recently restored by the officials. I realized the true beauty of its architecture and how it was a home to so many vendors. The Empress Market looks quite vivid through my eyes, therefore, I used Oil pastels in earthy tones to colour the structure. I used Yellow poster paint to colour the background to give it a sunny feeling because that’s the most common weather in my city. To signify the electrical wires in Saddar town, I used aluminium foil to create wires. Birds are commonly seen sitting on these wires and overall it gives an amazing look. I have tried to pour in the essence of my city Karachi in this drawing.
