Empress Market

Sanan Aamir

Description :

Empress Market was constructed between 1884 and1889. The market was constructed during the British rule in the subcontinent. Today, it is amongst the most popular and busy places for shopping in Karachi. Things sold in the Empress Market range from different spices, different types of oils (extracted in front of you), fruit, vegetables and meat to stationery material, textiles and pets. Due to its rich history and significance in Pakistan I decided to draw empress market. It is a place that really fascinates me and its historical significance further lead me to using this as inspiration. I used colour pencils to color my drawing.
