Over the Moon

Amina Pasha

Description :

I based this piece on ‘Over the Moon’, an expression/metaphor for happiness – I took this literally and depicted rabbits jumping over the moon in space. The rabbits were made in colored pencils whilst the background was done in graphite, creating a contrast between the jubilation of the rabbits and the gloomy expanse of the moon and space. The symbolism of the rabbits correlates to spring, and the joyfulness it brings; another reason for the use of rabbits was because in some cultures and traditions, the moon is associated with rabbits.
