Sidra

Inaya Athar

Description :

Sidra explores the incomplete projects of a local darzan or darzi in a bazaar. As we may know, multan has the most brilliant of sustainable fabrics available in the local bazzars, thus I bought a few metres of white cotton which is a commonly used fabric. Then, I hand sewed my project and then gave it to the local darzan to run it over with a machine. Afterwards I bought some sequins from a nearby shop (again, in the bazaar for optimal experience.) and individually placed each and every one to feel the way many seamstresses do. Afterwards, i cut some fabric and tied it around the waist, furthermore proving the “incomplete project” idea. The design was intentionally made western as of the rise of western fashion in the modern day malls and brands, however the methods of sewing and design are as traditional and old fashioned as I could have made them.
