Wired Passion

Aliza Irfan

Description :

This piece focuses on allowing yourself to truly express happiness. To express happiness is to allow yourself to feel emotion without fear of losing your sense of self. To escape, even for a moment, the repetitive current of life and experience pure, unadulterated bliss. The calm, pearly white body of liquid under the cyborg represents this bliss. The wires stemming from her back to the continuous circuit of wires above her governing her existence ground her to her reality, allowing her to explore the tumultuous feelings of passion symbolized by irregular bubbles of bright pink among a sea of red, before ascending to a state of peaceful joy. The cyborg’s crimson lips and nails, pierced eyebrow and braided hair indicate her authority over not only her identity, but her emotions. Her lilac skin represents the encouragement of emotional expression and youthfulness, both of which pushed the cyborg to express her happiness without insecurity.
