Women’s Harassment

Ammar Karim Shah

Description :

Women harassment This piece brings forth the severe issue of women’s harassment in our local bazaars. The bazaar itself is inspired by our rich, historical local markets, e.g: Empress market. While the bazaars may be beautiful in their own unique way, sexual harassment remains a troublingly unresolved problem that persists in every corner of these bazaars. I portray this through the invasive eyes staring at these women, stained red, the hands of abusers reaching out for their bodies and clothes. The different clothing of all these women highlights that women’s harassment has nothing to do with the clothes a woman wears, and everything to do with the abuser. These women are blindfolded, illuminating how most women choose to ignore such incidents and abusers as it leads them to believe that it is the only way to exist peacefully, as harassment becomes a systematic part of our society.
