Weaving Light into History: Wazir Khan Mosque

Artist Name: Annum Mehmood

About Artist:

I am Annum Mehmood, a dedicated artist with a deep appreciation for architectural forms. Specialising in pen work, I focus on capturing structure, detail, and perspective. As the co-head and vice president of my school’s Artisan Club, I’ve led numerous artistic initiatives, including large-scale décor for BBTMUN II and III. Winning 1st place in the International Emerging Artists 2024 competition further fuelled my ambition to push creative boundaries and refine my artistic voice.

Artist Statement:
In this mixed-media painting, I aimed to capture the luminous splendour of Wazir Khan Mosque’s architecture and spiritual essence. Using watercolour washes and pen lines, I emphasised the mosque’s intricate details and timeless beauty. To highlight the warm glow of the lamp, I introduced a subtle strand of yellow yarn, symbolising hope and enlightenment. By merging delicate pen work with vibrant pigments and tactile materials, I invite viewers to reflect on the mosque’s rich heritage and enduring significance.
